Barisal News: A book on BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman`s philosophy and his political activities has hit the stands in Europe, including the UK.

The book, titled "Political Thought of Tarique Rahman – Empowerment of the Grassroots People", written in English, was formally launched at a publication ceremony on Wednesday, held at the Cambridge University of Arms Auditorium, the highest seat of learning in Britain and one of the top universities in the world.

Bangladesh Policy Forum, Cambridge, published the book.

Davis Francis, former Director of Human Rights Department of Oxford University inaugurated the launching ceremony by cutting a red ribbon at the packed auditorium amid clapping by the audience.

A discussion followed the inauguration of the book.

Former members of the European Parliament John Cleton and Dr David Edgar, and eminent personalities of the UK and other European countries were among the discussants.

Participating in the discussion about the book, John Cleton said for politicians the most important thing is to properly understand the views and the languages expressed by the people from their heart.

Praising the book the speakers said “It will auspiciously bode well for the state if the dialects used by politicians comes off heart and truly meant to be intelligible by the masses.“

Terming the book a high thought one, they said the initiative taken by the authors of the book to reflect political thoughts of politician on the pages is highly commendable and brilliant.

The book, embodying Tarique Rahman`s ideas and his grassroots level thoughts, written skillfully and properly, will certainly augur well for a developing country like Bangladesh, they said, adding the initiative will also be followed in other countries.

BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, former alternative Executive Director of World Bank Mushfiqur Rahman, former Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Muniruzzaman Mia, Prof Anwarullah Chowdhury, Prof Khondkar Muztahidur Rahman, Prof Syed Rashidul Hasan, Prof Abdul Latif Masum, Associate Professor Shahabul Haque, President of Bangladesh Policy Forum, Cambridge, Mahdi Amin, former advisor to the Mayor of London Humayiun Kabir, journalist Shawkat Mahmud, Abdul Hai Shikder, Saleh Shibli and Ashik Islam contributed to the book.

Among others, former Commerce Minister and Chittagong city unit BNP President Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, UK chapter BNP President Shayesta Chowdhury Kuddus, secretary general M Faisal Ahmed, former international affairs secretary Muhidur Rahman were present at the book launching ceremony and also spoke.
